Join us for prenatal yoga at Kids In Sports on the Upper East Side! This unique program links yoga postures with breath, bringing awareness to the mind and body, as well as a connection to your baby.
Prenatal yoga strengthens the uterus and pelvic muscles, improves circulation, and increases overall comfort, alleviating many of the discomforts of pregnancy. Students can freely discuss issues or concerns and share the wonderful changes they are experiencing.
Classes can be purchased in a monthly series. If you miss a class during your series, you can make-up your missed class by taking any prenatal yoga class at our UWS location. Single classes CANNOT be purchased for this location.
Kids In Sports is located at 1420 2nd Ave (at 74th St)
Students are permitted two (2) make-up classes only. Missed prenatal classes must be made up at Prenatal Yoga Center (Upper West Side location). Students have three weeks after their session’s end date to make up the missed class(es). Classes do not carry over to the next satellite session. Should you deliver within your 4-week session, unused classes will be credited to Mommy and Me or Postnatal Yoga classes at PYC, to be used within 6 months. Unused classes will be forfeited, and unused classes will NOT be carried over to another pregnancy. With the exception of bedrest accompanied by a doctor’s note, The Prenatal Yoga Center cannot be responsible for providing additional make-ups or issuing any credit for classes missed as a result of scheduling conflicts, vacations, illness, emergencies, or other circumstances beyond our control. If you are put on bedrest, please notify the studio immediately and remaining classes will be transferred to Mommy and Me or Postnatal Yoga.
Jenny Langbehn received her 200 and 300 Hour certifications in 2008 with Yogaworks in New York City. Having plenty of orthopedic issues that made her not the most “obvious” of yoga teachers, Jenny was determined to prove that the practice was for every body; That the beauty of yoga was in the the transformative magic of the mind and the body, not in achievement or expectation. When Jenny became pregnant with her son, she began to notice that pregnancy was approached as a liability- or worse- as an injury or disability in many yoga classes. She knew she needed a more specialized education, and completed her prenatal yoga certification with the Prenatal Yoga Center in 2009. Very soon after, her son was born nearly 3 months prematurely. Jenny credits her yoga practice, and specifically the prenatal yoga training she received, in coping with the harrowing 10 weeks of life in the NICU. Four years later, Robby is a brilliant, whirlwind of a boy and the joy of her life. Concentrating her teaching to the needs of pregnant women has been Jenny’s passion; she now trains and certifies other yoga teachers (with Deb Flashenberg, Prenatal Yoga Center), and is teaching in the first prenatal program ever at Rikers Island Correctional Facility.
Jenny is thrilled to be teaching to such a special population of yoga students; the beauty, strength, curiosity, and humor of pregnancy is a true inspiration.
Allie is an NYC based yoga teacher, teaching both group classes and private sessions. She strongly believes in the power of movement and the mind-body connection. Having trained as a classical ballet dancer, she initially used yoga as a way to complement her dancing and to heal from several injuries. Later, while pursuing a professional modern and contemporary dance career, she found herself shifting into a deeper, daily practice as she couldn’t ignore it’s profound effects. She completed her 200 hr certification at Yoga Vida and earned additional certificates in Restorative and Yin. Most recently, she completed her Prenatal/Postnatal training at Prenatal Yoga Center after having been drawn to deepen her knowledge of the pregnant body and the trans-formative experience of childbirth. She is passionate about providing a gentle, supportive space where expectant mothers can safely move, breathe, and explore-allowing them to trust their bodies and tap into their own natural strength.
